Joseph M. Niro B.S., O.D.

Stonehill College 1980, Doctor of Optometry New England College of Optometry with honors 1984.

Dr. Niro completed his externship and residency at Brooke Army Medical Center, the military’s second largest hospital campus in the United States, housing a world renowned trauma and burn facility.

Dr. Niro also completed an advanced primary eye care appointment at the Dimock Community Health Center located in Roxbury, MA, providing eye care to the underserved community in the greater Boston area. Subsequent to this appointment, Dr. Niro became an adjunct clinical teaching associate at the New England College of Optometry’s Boston Clinic, becoming a lead instructor for first and second year optometric clinicians.

Both DPA and TPA certified, Dr. Niro received post-doctoral advanced training in Ocular Disease and Therapeutics from the S.U.N.Y College of Optometry, Manhattan Campus, obtaining certification with distinction from the director of Clinical Services. Dr. Niro is also certified by the New England College of Optometry in glaucoma diagnosis and management.

Dr. Niro has been in practice in the Acton/Concord area since 1986, forming a successful partnership with Dr. Jeffrey Wesson in 1988. Both Drs. Niro and Wesson have forged a strong relationship with the medical communities of Acton, Concord and surrounding towns, providing prompt and courteous access to eye care for both practitioners and patients alike.

A father of four children and devoted to his wife Susan, Dr. Niro enjoys running, gardening and classical music as avocations outside the office setting.

Lin Chia, O.D.

Lin Chia, O.D. earned her Doctor of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry in 2013. She received her training at Tufts NEMC, Harvard Vanguard, the VA Boston Healthcare System, the Fenway Health Center, and the New England Eye Institute. With her enthusiasm for providing a solutions-focused approach to eye care, Dr. Chia’s areas of clinical expertise are in the co-management of refractive surgery, ocular surface disease, corneal disorders, and myopia management. Previously, Dr. Chia was the Clinical Director of Boston’s premier refractive surgery practice. She was responsible for managing clinical safety and operations, developing peri-operative guidelines, growing and educating New England’s affiliate physicians’ network, and training staff locally and nationally.

Dr. Chia has also been an adjunct associate professor at her alma mater, instructing advanced courses on refractive surgery.

When not in clinic, Dr. Chia enjoys traveling, cooking and baking, gardening, and spending time with her family and rescue animals.
